Pie-eyed

Having recently experienced a Walkers Steak and Stilton treat our resident pie connoisseur fears there is no turning back.

At first glance it looked exactly as a good pie should look, well structured, firm pastry with a lovely golden crust. As it heated, the kitchen smelt of pie heaven: I couldn’t wait to see if the taste matched the aroma, and I wasn’t disappointed.

With lean, tender steak pieces and a hint of creamy Stilton in a rich, dark gravy, all wrapped up in Walkers’ mouth-watering, rich crust pastry, it was a delight to the senses.

If pies are comfort food, then a Walkers pie is five-star luxury – like relaxing on a snowy night in front of a roaring log fire on a velvet chaise, wrapped in an ermine cloak.

The pie is part of the new line of quintessentially British pies which launched into stores earlier this month.

Walkers’ new offering includes three different varieties of two-pie packs; Supreme Steak & Stilton, Sumptuous Steak and Classic Chicken, White Wine & Mushroom, and a single Glorious Chicken & Chorizo Pie.
